About Sherwin

Hi, my name is Sherwin and I’m an award-winning mathematics and statistics lecturer with over 10 years of teaching experience across Sydney’s major universities.

My fascination with mathematics began at a young age. I completed high school mathematics at 13 and began studying mathematics at university at 14. I later graduated with First Class Honours before completing a PhD in Applied Mathematics.

Throughout my academic and teaching career, I have developed a deep appreciation for both the beauty and practicality of mathematics. Whether teaching school students, university students, or professionals seeking to strengthen their mathematical foundations, my aim is always the same: to make complex ideas clear, logical, and accessible.

I believe students learn best when they develop genuine understanding rather than relying on memorisation. For this reason, I focus on explaining concepts intuitively, building strong foundations, and helping students see the connections between different areas of mathematics.

Over the years, I have taught hundreds of students with a wide range of abilities and goals. Some have pursued top academic results, while others simply wanted greater confidence in their mathematical skills. In every case, my goal is to help students realise their potential and develop a lasting appreciation for the subject.
