Each class has 6-12 students.
Each module covers both years 11 and 12 for that particular topic, so it's most suitable for year 11 students. Year 12 students are welcome too, but must know that for them a fair part of the module might be revision.
These group classes are most effective if the student doesn't have many gaps in their background math knowledge. If they do, they would be better off addressing those gaps first using a private tutor before embarking to learn further content. That's why once registered, I will catchup with the prospective student on zoom to see if they're ready for that module.
They can post their questions on an online discussion forum that I will be monitoring. Please note though I only promise to answer questions related to my lessons and questions, and not questions acquired from elsewhere.
There is no formal entrance exam, but rather a casual catchup on zoom. The purpose is for me to check the student has the necessary background knowledge to register in their module of choice. If they don't, then they'd be better of hiring a private tutor to help fill in any gaps they have, before embarking to learn new content.
The entire module is required to be paid upfront. The cost of each module varies only because the durations of the modules vary. But regardless of the module, the cost is $25 per hour.
The unique thing about these classes is they are a means for students to greatly accelerate their studies; I teach the combined years 11-12 advanced maths course in 32 weeks and the combined years 11-12 extension 1 course in 47 weeks. Most other places take at least twice as long to get through the same material.
This means that if a student starts with me in year 11, then by the time they've started year 12 they are pretty much good-to-go for the HSC exam. At that point, I recommend they do a past paper or two every week to retain what they've learnt and to perfect their exam speed and technique.
This will give them one less subject to worry about in year 12 and leave more time to focus on their other subjects.
Also, all lessons are written and delivered by me. I was one of the youngest students ever to sit the HSC, so I have first-hand experience in what it takes to succeed. At the same time, I'm a very experienced teacher having now taught at the tertiary level for over 10 years. As a result, I've developed a real knack for being able explain difficult concepts in a language which students find easy to understand.
At the end of each week, students will gain access to a prerecorded video of myself going through what was covered in that week's lesson. So if any student misses a class, they can catch up using that.
